The locality of this small village owes a large part of its notoriety to the remains of its castle, classified as a historical monument, and which housed the "Les Aigles de Lordat" aviary until 2015. Perched on a rocky outcrop, it offers a splendid panorama on the historic terroir of Sabarthès, as well as on the neighboring town of Luzenac. The castle built in the 9th century, it is one of the oldest and largest feudal castles in the County of Foix.
Several hiking departures are offered from the village of Lordat, in particular the ascent of the Pic de Saint-Barthélemy or that of Soularac, offering equally exceptional panoramas.

Lordat is irrigated by several streams, including that of Font Albe, Girabal or that of Piche-Baque. You can also observe its Sainte-Marie church there.
