The path called "chemin du Llata" that crosses a beech and pine tree forest is an old path that used to lead the animals from the hamlet of Petches towards their summer place at the Col de Joux.Departure from Petches (altitude 950m), car park at the start of the hamlet (accessible by car from Ax); The path (called "chemin du Llata") starts 50 meters above the car park on the left of the little car. The path will go up gradually between beautiful stone low walls, then it will cross 20 meters on the left the forest road. Then it will continue its ascent, crossing and going along the road, in a beech forest that crosses the Cout stream, then the Fontfrede stream and that reaches a road. Leave the "Borde de Gabriel" on the left and continue until the Rial Bridge, where there is a barrier where there is a sign that bans car from going through (1448m of altitude)
